StAy Warm While BIPOC

  • ONLINE Minneapolis, MN 55407 USA (map)

An offering from Kym Zest

Did you grow up in a warmer climate? Or did your parents? Do you feel genetically ill suited for the cold? Me too!

Some people have generations of northern heritage passing on cold climate strategies. Some people just do well in the cold. Not me. My father’s side comes from Southeast Asia. He still doesn’t wear socks in the winter and his “layering” is typically a giant coat over summer clothes. Being even a little bit cold makes me crabby. I am prone to all sorts of cold injuries, including being pre-hypothermic a handful of times.

You don’t have to stay inside all winter. You don’t have to suffer in the cold.

You can stay warm even well below freezing temps. Enjoy the great outdoors year round. Winter is breathtakingly beautiful when you’re comfortable enough to immerse yourself in the environment.

I still hate being cold. Through education and experience I’ve learned how to enjoy the coldest days outdoors. I’m a certified Wilderness First Responder. I’ve biked and run through over 10 Minnesota winters. I’ve winter camped sleeping under just a tarp for over 28 nights.

You too can become a winter badass, or at least not hate it as much.

Learn:

  • The various factors that make you get cold.

  • Beyond basic layering.

  • Beyond clothes. What else will keep you warm?

  • Customizing the strategy - it goes beyond temperature!

  • Kym's favorite versatile gear!

This interactive Zoom workshop is for people who identify as Black, Brown, or People Of Color. A link to the recording will be provided to registered people after the event.
