Despite increasing application numbers, RentHelpMN ended abruptly on January 28, 2022 with only three days' notice. The pandemic and its deep economic impacts are ongoing, especially in communities of color. Since RentHelpMN ended, there has been a 20% increase in eviction filings, and thousands of Minnesotans are still in need of relief.
The Equity in Place coalition urges the Governor, House, and Senate to reopen RentHelpMN and reinvest $330 million in Emergency Rental Assistance (HF3667). Investing now in rental assistance will dramatically reduce the need for additional funds to address housing instability and homelessness in the future.
Equity in Place is hosting a press conference at the Capitol (Room B971) featuring renters, tenant advocates, and policymakers who recognize the urgent need for Emergency Rental Assistance. Join us on Thursday, April 21 at 10am in person or watch live on Facebook here!
