Closing Reception: Alondra Garza and Jimmy Christensen

  • Modus Locus 3500 Bloomington Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55407 United States (map)

Join us for the closing night of Alondra M Garza's art exhibit on her experiences immigrating to Minnesota from a Mexican border town. Alondra will be speaking about her show, border life, and immigration story while cutting papel picado as a way of healing. The event will also feature a projected live video of the border bridge in her hometown at the Rio Grande Valley.

Local filmmaker, Jimmy Christenson, will be present at the event and will screen part of a short film he made about a Mexican/Minnesotan family man facing deportation. TO BE RECONCILED

Carlos’ years-long struggle against deportation to one of the most violent cities in Mexico leads his case to the U.S. Supreme Court. Living in limbo, with seemingly endless legal victories and defeats, he pursues reconciliation with his faith, family and the law, determined to stay in Minnesota for his only daughter’s quinceañera and beyond.

The closing reception will take place 3/31/23 from 7-9pm at Modus Locus. We encourage everyone to attend and be a part of this important conversation. Please share this invite with your friends and family who may be interested in this event.

We look forward to seeing you there!
