Breathe: A Ritual to Undo, a new ritual performance piece by Ashawnti Sakina Ford
This performance was commissioned in 2020 as part of Exposed Brick Theatre's Through Our Eyes series. Ford described it this way: A moment of pause, a collective breath, a call to shake things up (in our bodies) so that we can continue a fight that was started long ago and may continue long after us. This ritual is intended to heal by allowing all of our emotions to flow in, out, and around us. A renewed sense of fight is what I hope can emerge by listening and performing this piece.
Million Artist Movement will partner with Exposed Brick Theatre at each performance to provide Power Tree Quilting starting one hour prior to the performance.
Schedule is:
Friday, May 13: Quilting begins at 6:30; Performance at 7:30
Saturday, May 14: Quilting begins at 6:30; Performance at 7:30
Sunday, May 15: Quilting begins at 1:00; Performance at 2:00
The performance is approximately 45 minutes.
