Composer / Director JG Everest teams up with poets Chavonn Shen and Nimo Farah to present a new site-specific temporary sound + performance installation at Riverside Park, part of the Cedar Riverside People’s Center and Clinics’ “Because Your Health Matters” community wellness initiative and the City Of Minneapolis’ Creative City Making program.
The Riverside Park Sound Garden event is a free, family-friendly, self-guided event that features
a sound installation of 50+ small, wireless speakers, distributed throughout a section of the park,
with live accompaniment by roving musicians and dancers, and live poetry and site-specific visual art.
Event is free, but registration required, to manage capacity and for event updates (weather) and details about the event. Please click below to register. **RAIN DATE in case of bad weather is the next day, Sunday May 15**
Funding for this project was provided by the The Creative Response Fund, a program of the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy in the City of Minneapolis and also in part by The Kresge Foundation, and by the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, and the MN State Arts Board's Creative Support For Individuals grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
