Seward Neighborhood Group and Longfellow Community Council are hosting a health equity event on Sunday, August 20th from 11am to 3pm at Brackett Park.
This event will feature health screenings, narcan trainings, dental screenings , and haircuts all for free. There will be a resource fair, free clothing store, yoga and a community art project with music from KRSM. Minnesota has some of the greatest health disparities in the country between white people and BIPOC. There are organizations throughout the Twin Cities that have programs aimed at addressing these disparities but there can often be barriers to access, especially for our unhoused neighbors. With this event SNG and LCC hope to bring services to people in one place in an attempt to eliminate some of those barriers. Health is often viewed through an individualistic lens, but we are all healthier when our communities are healthy.
Metro Transit will be offering free rides to the event – fill out the survey on longfellow.org or sng.org to get yours. This event is funded in part thanks to a grant from Hennepin County and is supported by KRSM and Metro Transit.
