Visual Memoir Class | Winter 2021-2022

In partnership with Aroha Philanthropies, CenterstAGE is BACK November 6th with a new section of visual memoir classes for adults ages 55 plus! This course will take place in-person at Pillsbury House Theatre and will kick off the fourth year of memoir classes, which began in 2019.

Saturdays from 9:30am – 11:00 AM | November 6th – January 22nd
Held in – person.
Taught by Beverly Cottman, Master Storyteller and Masanari Kawahara, PHT Teaching Artist.

In this class, gather with a small group of fellow writers – no experience necessary! – and explore the idea of “telling” your memoir. Create your story, learn and practice it, then tell it! Confidently share some of your life experiences with those you love or total strangers.

Storytelling Memoirs is led by interdisciplinary artist Beverly Cottman. As storyteller Auntie Beverly, she delivers wisdom of the ages by telling stories, folktales, and fables rooted in African and African-American traditions as well as cultural tales from around the world.

Socially-distanced classes will take place in the spacious Pillsbury House Theatre lobby from 9:30am-11:00am on the following Saturdays:

November 6, 13, & 20
December 4, 11, & 18
January 8, 15, & 22

Those who are unvaccinated may join from Zoom (laptop rentals available).
