The Black History of Community Control of Police
Community control of police is not a new idea. Join us to learn about its history from Reconstruction in the 1860s, to the Black Power movement in the 1970s, and to folks making history in this fight today. High profile police murders and massive protests against show that right now is the time to bring community control to Minneapolis and other cities across the country.
A panel of local leaders from the fight against police crimes and other movements will be joined via zoom by Chicago's Frank Chapman (from the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression and Freedom Road Socialist Organization) to discuss the fight for police accountability today.
