Education Equity Parent Fellowship Application Deadline Extended
2022-2023 Education Equity Parent Fellowship Application
Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) parents or guardians are bold, wise, and resourceful experts when it comes to knowing what education equity looks like for our children.
Voices for Racial Justice is facilitating the annual Education Equity Parent Fellowship, a 10-month cohort to support the leadership and vision of BIPOC parents, guardians, and/or caregivers in their work for education equity. This opportunity continues our longstanding racial justice organizing training, which is rooted in culture and healing.
This space is for parents, guardians, and/or caregivers to share their experiences, develop organizing and leadership skills, and re-imagine education equity futures and priorities for their youth, children, and school communities. As we learn from each other and community experts, fellows will identify issues they care about and develop solutions to the education disparities that are prevalent in their students’ lives.
To be eligible, applicants must have children or grandchildren in public K-12 schools and be actively involved in their education experience.
The Education Equity Parent Fellows will meet virtually, twice a month, during the 2022-2023 school year and participants are asked to commit to the posted dates from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
Completed questionnaires must be received by the end of the day on September 16 2022 at 11:59pm. Finalists will be invited for an interview in the final two weeks of September.
Selected Education Equity Parent Fellows will receive a $1000 honorarium in recognition of the time commitment of being a part of this cohort.
Questions should be directed to Julia Freeman, Director of Community Engagement: freeman@voicesforracialjustice.org. Or Ebony Young at young@voicesforracialjustice.org.
