People's Assembly: Re-Imagining the Third Precinct

Minneapolis’ Third Precinct Police Precinct and its grounds have been abandoned and barricaded since the building was stormed on the evening of May 28th, 2020 by demonstrators following the murder of George Floyd. In light of the City of Minneapolis’ history of tactical inaction and strategic incompetence, often used as precursors towards fast-tracked bureaucracy, Confluence: An East Lake Studio for Community Design has launched an Autonomous Request for Proposals (A-RFP) to re-imagine the Third Precinct complex from the ground up.
>>>>>> Why Should You Come? <<<<<<
Join the Assemblies because you want to contribute leadership on decisions that will transform our neighborhood.
Join the Assemblies because you no longer want to leave your future up to the Mayor’s Office, City Council, or property developers.
Our Assemblies will focus on authentic community security. To us security means that we have culture and resources available to everyone that supports them as a whole being.
This includes people having homes to sleep in, food to eat, freedom from fear of physical or mental harm. We think that resources of culture, housing, healing, justice, and space can help us achieve that kind of security.
Finally our Assemblies will include discussions about the relocation or removal of the Minneapolis Police Department’s Third Precinct from our Ward, the 9th Ward.

Join us on May 16th to learn about the four key initiatives of the Minnesota Youth Council (MYC) and the work they have done this legislative session in pursuit of a just and equitable Minnesota.
